VOMWD Urges Customers to Conserve Water
The Sonoma County Water Agency is seeking mandatory water conservation of fifteen percent from its contractors, including cities and water districts in its service area, including VOMWD, as well as from residents, businesses, and the agricultural community in Sonoma, Marin and Mendocino counties. Lake Mendocino water levels are projected to be at historically low water supply levels this summer and fall. This request is in response to the revised order from the State Water Resources Control Board related to Petition for Temporary Urgency Change on Russian River. The Revised Order requires mandatory water conservation of fifteen percent. View the Order.
On July 3, 2007, the Board of Directors of the Valley of the Moon Water District (District) adopted Ordinance No. 1008 establishing mandatory water conservation measures. This Ordinance was adopted in response to the State Water Resources Control Board Order No. WR 2007-0022, requiring the Sonoma County Water Agency (Agency) to reduce diversions from the Russian River by 15% between July 1, 2007 and October 28, 2007. The District obtains a major portion of its water supply from the Russian River through the Agency’s aqueduct, therefore, the District is requesting all of its customers to reduce water use by adhering to the requirements of Ordinance No. 1008.
