"We Are Committed to Excellence"
The customers of the Valley of the Moon Water District (VOMWD) rely on the Russian River water, supplied by the Sonoma County Water Agency, as the current source of water supply.
That has shaped the development of the VOMWD and its policies. The need to depend on the Russian River water, with its varied challenges, has forged the VOMWD into a dynamic and forward-thinking organization that must work cooperatively with water interests countywide to ensure the Russian River water quality is protected and enhanced.
Among the initiatives the VOMWD has undertaken is the construction of a new storage tank in Glen Ellen as well as the on-going construction of a replacement well on Verano Avenue. These are some of the measures that the VOMWD is undertaking to increase the overall reliability of the system and to improve the operating flexibility during peak summer season. The VOMWD continues to take a leadership role in regional water matters to ensure the continued availability of the Russian River water to its customers.
The VOMWD is also actively involved in the deliberations of the Sonoma Valley Groundwater Basin Advisory Panel.
VOMWD has implemented comprehensive long-range planning that focuses expenditures on the highest priorities, and keeps VOMWD rate increases close to inflation. Over the past 10 years, the District has invested $13.8 million in new assets and infrastructure replacement, yet rates have increased close to the inflation rate.
Approximately 23,000 people in the Sonoma Valley area depend on the VOMWD to provide a reliable supply of quality water at a reasonable rate. We are committed to meeting that challenge as well as providing excellent customer service.
