2005 Urban Water Management Plan
The Urban Water Management Act requires every urban water supplier that provides water for municipal purposes to more than 3,000 connections or supplying more than 3,000 acre feet of water annually, to adopt and submit a plan every five years to the California Department of Water Resources. The District recently prepared the 2005 Urban Water Management Plan (2005 UWMP). The 2005 UWMP addresses the District’s water system and includes a description of the water supply sources, magnitudes of historical and projected water use, and a comparison of water supply to water demands during normal, single-dry, and multiple-dry years. The 2005 UWMP serves as a long-range planning document for the District’s water supply.
2005 UWMP reflects increased annual water allocation to the District from the Sonoma County Water Agency (Water Agency) – from the current 3,200 acre-feet to the revised 3,729 acre-feet. However, the formal allocation increase may have to wait until the approval of the Water Agency’s Water Supply and Transmission System Reliability Project EIR (Water Project EIR) by the Water Agency’s Board of Directors, anticipated to occur in 2008. It is noteworthy that the Demand Analysis Update prepared by the Water Agency’s consultants, to be used as part of the Water Project EIR, reflects the Districts annual water needs at 3,729 acre-feet.
